Human rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana has chided the senators for giving an overdue impeachment ultimatum to the president.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Channel TV's Politics Today, Femi Falana said it is coming too late and that the senate should taken the fast too long ago.
"You see! By virtue of section 14 subsection 2 subsection 2 of the constitution, the welfare and security of the people shall be the primary purpose of government, once the welfare of our people have been sacrificed....security under serious threat....in fact, the national assembly has been slow, extremely slow." He replied, when asked if it is feasible to impeach the president now.
He also lamented the unbearable rate of insecurity in the country, adding that Kaduna State which "host the largest military institution in the country has been conquered by terrorists."
The country is at the height of insecurity with series of attacks made at president the latest of which occurred this week where more than five officers were killed.
This has prompted minority group in the senate chamber of the legislature to issue a 6-week ultimatum to the president.
