Nigerian man tries videoing Aregbesola against his will. Is this right?

While being angry at your leaders, a former member or those who form a cabinet of a government you're unsatisfied with can take various legal form, is it lawful to encroach on such people's right or privacy?

This was the case which has incited a debate on social media when an unidentified Nigerian man videod the country's current minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola against his will.

In the video, the former governor was serving himself meal in a restaurant in the United States of America when a supposedly Nigerian man approached and started taking a video of him.

Having moved away from the man, the minister asked the man to identify himself, instead, he kept shouting "you can't touch me, I'm in America and this is America, this is not Nigeria" even when the affable minister told him to have his seat beside him.

This has subsequently caused a debate on twitter among users of varying opinions.

See video below:

While to some, the man was right to show his grievance in such a way even if it tramples the minister's privacy, others believe Aregbesola has a right to privacy and should not be truncated.

@JboyAsemota posted, "This is wrong. Aregbesola have right to his privacy. Saying he is an American just to be unruly is unacceptable."

@solastar2 said "Who said he is at liberty to record when it was obvious he was recording him against his will."

@paulinejohnh, "Very rude and unacceptable, you don't just record people, the guy was obviously looking for trouble, you will know even from his tone"

However, many have thrown their weight behind the man.

@lifeoflegendino wrote, "If aregbeshola have no hidden stuffs too why is he scared someone is recording him in another country!!!"

@iam_ashomjunior wrote, "The minister couldve handled it better honestly, besides it's a public place he's at liberty to record."

@dotinz01 tweeted, "That is the only way the man could express his emotions about how bad the country is."
